While a KB mirror is a 2D focusing optical system using two elliptical mirrors arranged vertically and horizontally, an ellipsoidal mirror achieves 2D focusing with just a single mirror featuring a 3D surface profile.\n\t\tCompared to a KB mirror that requires two reflections, an ellipsoidal mirror needs only one, yielding higher focusing efficiency. Additionally, the absence of a second reflection simplifies optical alignment for users. However, ellipsoidal mirrors feature steep curvatures, particularly sagittal to the incident X-rays, making high-accuracy measurement significantly more challenging than for other mirror profiles.\n\t\tJTEC has developed nano-CMM and CGH interferometry technologies capable of highly accurate metrology even for such steep curvatures.
