Environmental Initiatives
Our company is committed to promoting environmentally conscious business practices in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and . For example, our high-precision X-ray mirrors, used at large-scale synchrotron radiation facilities such as SPring-8 and X-ray free-electron laser facilities like SACLA, accelerate research in green technologies, including battery systems, fuel cells, and catalyst development. These efforts contribute to improved energy efficiency and the creation of innovative environmental technologies.
Furthermore, our carbon dioxide emissions are significantly below the thresholds defined for “Specified Emission Businesses” under applicable laws, demonstrating our dedication to environmentally responsible operations. Moving forward, we will adopt the GHG Protocol to accurately monitor greenhouse gas emissions and actively work toward reducing CO₂ output.
In addition, we utilize Elastic Emission Machining (EEM) technology developed by The University of Osaka to achieve ultra-precise surface nano-processing. This method leverages chemical reactions of fine particles in pure water, eliminating the generation of high-environmental-impact waste. Future initiatives will focus on extending particle lifespan and enabling recycling. We are also advancing the practical application of CARE (CAtalyst-Referred Etching) technology, which uses only ultrapure water for processing. Like EEM, CARE serves as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional high-impact machining methods.
Through these initiatives, we aim to contribute to the preservation of the global environment and the sustainable development of society.
Social Initiatives
As a global niche top innovator, we seek diverse talent with extensive practical experience and provide an environment where everyone can maximize their potential, regardless of gender, nationality, or recruitment background. Moving beyond traditional seniority-based and performance-based systems, we have introduced a new HR framework, the Role-Based Grading System, focused on each employee’s mission, to enhance motivation across the organization. In addition, we actively recruit highly specialized professionals. Senior talent, in particular, not only contributes as immediate assets through their wealth of experience and exceptional skills but also plays a vital role in developing younger employees. For this reason, we are committed to promoting the recruitment of senior professionals.
Recognizing the impact of educational environments where the proportion of women majoring in science and engineering remains low, we have raised our target ratio for female managers from 10% to over 20%. Furthermore, our company has achieved a 100% childcare leave acquisition rate among female employees and actively encourages male employees to take childcare leave, thereby fostering a workplace where both men and women can work comfortably.
To achieve sustainable growth, we will continue to create an environment where diverse talent can thrive, ensuring that all employees can maximize their potential and grow together.
Governance Initiatives
Our company strives to maintain robust corporate governance and operational control through the Board of Directors and the Executive Management Committee, ensuring the effective execution of business strategies and continuous monitoring and evaluation of risk management. We have established the Corporate Crisis Management Regulation and the Compliance Regulation to maintain and promote proper business practices in accordance with these frameworks.
Within the Executive Management Committee and the Compliance Committee, we have implemented a system designed for effective risk and crisis management. This includes identifying and addressing risk and crisis-related events across all business divisions and reporting to the Board of Directors when necessary. The structure operates like a feedback control system in physics, where deviations are detected and corrected to maintain organizational equilibrium.
Through these governance mechanisms, we pursue sustainable growth and strengthen the foundation of trust with shareholders, stakeholders, and society at large. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance risk management and compliance awareness, aiming to evolve as a company that earns even greater trust, similar to a stable system that minimizes entropy and maintains integrity under external forces.
