A 2D Wolter mirror consists of an ellipsoidal face and a hyperboloidal face on a single substrate. While the Advanced KB mirror (1D Wolter mirror) is a focusing system requiring four reflections in vertical and horizontal directions across both elliptical and hyperbolic shapes, the 2D Wolter mirror realizes the same optical system with only two reflections. Similar to standard ellipsoidal mirrors, the 2D Wolter mirror has a shape with a steep curvature in the sagittal direction. Therefore, high-accuracy shape measurement is extremely difficult. Additionally, achieving high accuracy in the relative positional relationship between the ellipsoidal and hyperboloidal surfaces is critical. To solve this, JTEC has developed a 3D shape measuring system that can handle steep profiles, successfully realizing high-precision 2D Wolter mirrors.
